“The Rise of Chaos” stands as the 15th studio album from the esteemed German heavy metal band, Accept. Released on 4 August 2017, this album marks the introduction of guitarist Uwe Lulis and drummer Christopher Williams, succeeding Herman Frank and Stefan Schwarzmann, respectively. Notably, it serves as the farewell studio album featuring bassist Peter Baltes, who departed Accept in November 2018. Produced by Andy Sneap, continuing their successful collaboration, the title of the album, as explained by guitarist Wolf Hoffmann, reflects the chaos prevailing in the world due to human actions.
The transition in the lineup occurred about four months after the release of “Blind Rage” in 2014 when Herman Frank and Stefan Schwarzmann departed. Uwe Lulis and Christopher Williams stepped into their roles, bringing new energy to the band.
Planning for a new album began in June 2015, with bassist Peter Baltes announcing Accept’s intention to commence work after concluding the “Blind Rage” tour. Guitarist Wolf Hoffmann, in a July 2015 interview, hinted at the band’s upcoming activities, indicating a break after the ongoing tour before regrouping in the fall. He emphasized the final phase of the “Blind Rage” cycle and the need to write and record the next album. The timeline for the new release was projected for July or August 2017.
As announced on 16 April 2017, “The Rise of Chaos” hit the music scene on 4 August, with the title track single released digitally via Nuclear Blast on 2 June. This album showcases Accept’s enduring prowess in heavy metal, maintaining their collaboration with producer Andy Sneap.
