Why Lawd?

NxWorries, the American neo-soul duo comprising vocalist Anderson .Paak and producer Knxwledge, released their second studio album, Why Lawd?, on 7 June 2024 through Stones Throw Records, with a digital release following on 14 June 2024. The album includes singles such as “Where I Go,” featuring H.E.R., released on 19 October 2022, “Daydreaming” on 18 May 2023, “86Sentra” on 3 April 2024, “FromHere,” featuring Snoop Dogg and October London, on 14 May 2024, and “WalkOnBy,” featuring Earl Sweatshirt and Rae Khalil, on 11 June 2024.

Why Lawd? has received generally favourable reviews. Metacritic assigned it a score of 77 out of 100. Variety’s John Kennedy praised the album’s exploration of themes such as survivor‚Äôs guilt and emotional unavailability, calling it an “intriguing listen.” Dylan Green of Pitchfork highlighted Knxwledge’s production as “breathtaking” and “ornately constructed.” Andy Kellman of AllMusic commended .Paak’s evocative lyrics, while Logan Walker of The Skinny noted the album’s “sonic smoothness.”

The album features collaborations with notable artists including Dave Chappelle, Thundercat, H.E.R., Snoop Dogg, October London, Earl Sweatshirt, and Rae Khalil.
