”Welcome Break” stands as the second studio album by the Dutch indie band Pip Blom, hitting the shelves on 12 November 2021 under the Heavenly Recordings label.
Taking charge of the production themselves, Pip Blom ventured into the creative process at Big Jelly Studios in Ramsgate, England.
Initially slated for release on 8 October 2021, the announcement came on 15 June 2021. However, owing to the disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the album’s release was rescheduled to 12 November 2021.
The unveiling of the album was preluded by the release of its first single, “Keep It Together,” on 15 June 2021. Following this, the second single, “It Should Have Been Fun,” saw the light of day on 15 July 2021.
Subsequent to these releases, on 17 August 2021, the third single, “You Don’t Want This,” made its entrance, accompanied by a music video directed by Sara Elzinga.
Anticipation continued to build with the release of the fourth single, “I Know I’m Not Easy to Like,” on 9 November 2021. Lead singer Pip Blom provided insights into the track, describing it as imbued with anger and aggression. The recording process was marked by an intense commitment to infuse energy, employing varied drum setups to traverse from subtle to explosive within a single track. The emphasis lay in crafting dynamic shifts, ensuring the song remained compelling and exhilarating, with a chorus described as possibly the grandest yet.
