Veni Vidi Vicious is the second studio album by Swedish rock band The Hives, released on 10 April 2000 through Burning Heart and Epitaph, with a subsequent re-release on 30 April 2002 through Sire and Gearhead.The album’s title is a play on the famous phrase by Julius Caesar, “Veni, vidi, vici,” which translates to “I came, I saw, I conquered.”
The album was met with widespread acclaim from music critics, achieving an average score of 84 out of 100 on Metacritic. It was ranked number 399 in Rock Hard magazine’s The 500 Greatest Rock & Metal Albums of All Time in 2005 and was placed at number 91 on Rolling Stone’s list of the top 100 albums of the decade. Additionally, the single “Hate to Say I Told You So” was ranked number 244 on Pitchfork’s list of the top 500 songs of 2000–2009.
