Released on 1 November 2022, Today & Tomorrow is the ninth studio album from the ever-enigmatic British collective Sault. It arrived as part of an extraordinary five-album drop – alongside 11, Aiir, Earth, and Untitled (God) – made available as a free digital download for just five days via a password-protected link, framed as an offering to God. In keeping with the group’s unconventional ethos, four of the five albums later appeared on streaming platforms on 12 November.

Sonically, Today & Tomorrow is one of the most immediate and kinetic entries in that remarkable quintet. Blending rock urgency, punk energy, and deep-rooted ’70s funk grooves, the album pulses with momentum. From the expansive opener “In the Beginning” to the driving force of “Run” and the punchy bite of “Money”, the record moves with restless confidence. Tracks like “Lion” and “The Jungle” channel a raw, almost live-wire intensity, while moments such as “The Greatest Smile” and “Above the Sky” add emotional lift and texture.

The Daily Telegraph highlighted Today & Tomorrow as an “urgent, party-starting collection of rock, punk and ’70s funk”, while The Observer awarded the wider five-album project five stars, calling it an act of generosity rather than excess. Gigwise praised the ambitious scale of the releases and singled out this album for its thrilling balance of frenetic punk brilliance and groove-led experimentation.

Upon release, Today & Tomorrow debuted at number 26 on the UK Album Downloads chart, joining its sister albums in making an immediate digital impact.
