The Singles

The Singles is the debut greatest hits compilation by British electronic music duo Basement Jaxx, released on 21 March 2005 through XL Recordings. The album features two new tracks, “Oh My Gosh” and “U Don’t Know Me,” both released as singles. Additionally, “Do Your Thing,” previously featured on their 2001 album Rooty, was re-released in the UK alongside the new singles.

The compilation was prompted by the duo’s diverse musical catalogue, aiming to provide a comprehensive collection for both existing fans and newcomers. Basement Jaxx embarked on the Live 2006 tour in support of the album, consisting of eight shows across the UK.

Following Kylie Minogue’s withdrawal due to illness, Basement Jaxx headlined the 2005 Glastonbury Festival, delivering a well-received performance despite the adverse weather conditions.

The tracklist includes notable hits such as “Red Alert,” “Romeo,” and “Where’s Your Head At,” alongside collaborations with artists like Dizzee Rascal and Lisa Kekaula.
