The Rest

Boygenius released their second extended play, “The Rest,” on October 13, 2023, via Interscope Records. Following their debut full-length album, “The Record,” the EP was unveiled gradually during their tour performances, culminating in the release of the complete collection. The EP, featuring a selection of four songs, has garnered positive reception from critics.

Critically, “The Rest” has received favourable reviews. Metacritic aggregates a score of 75 out of 100 based on six critic reviews, indicating a generally positive response. Notably, AllMusic awarded the EP 3.5 out of 5 stars, with critic Stephen Thomas Erlewine praising its focus on individual singer-songwriters. Other reviewers have similarly praised the EP, noting its strength and contribution to Boygenius’ body of work.

The EP’s tracklist includes four songs, all written by Julien Baker, Phoebe Bridgers, and Lucy Dacus, with additional contributors listed where applicable. Personnel involved in the production and instrumentation include members of Boygenius alongside various additional contributors.

In terms of commercial performance, “The Rest” charted modestly, peaking at number 50 on the US Billboard 200 chart. It also secured positions on other Billboard charts, such as Top Alternative Albums and Folk Albums.
