Slowdive is the fourth studio album by the English rock band Slowdive, released on 5th May 2017 under the record label Dead Oceans. Following a 22-year hiatus since their last studio album, Pygmalion (1995), Slowdive marks the band’s return. Notably, it also reintroduces drummer Simon Scott as a member, the first time since their 1993 album Souvlaki.
Preceding the album’s release were two singles: “Star Roving” on 12th January 2017 and “Sugar for the Pill” on 28th March 2017.
Critical reception towards Slowdive was overwhelmingly positive. At Metacritic, which aggregates reviews from various mainstream publications, the album received an average score of 82 based on 30 reviews. Critics hailed Slowdive for delivering a fresh yet familiar dream-pop sound, with notable praise for its innovation and atmospheric depth.
