One Touch (20 Year Anniversary Edition)

“One Touch” is the debut studio album by the British girl group Sugababes, released by London Records on 27 November 2000 in the UK and in December 2000 in most other European territories. The trio worked with various producers, including Cameron McVey, who produced the majority of the album. It features four singles: “Overload,” “New Year,” “Run for Cover,” and “Soul Sound.”

Despite an initial peak at number 26 on the UK Albums Chart and achieving Gold certification by the BPI, the album performed well in German-speaking Europe, reaching the top ten in Austria, Germany, and Switzerland. The album was the group’s only release with London Records and the only one featuring the original line-up until 2022. Siobh√°n Donaghy left the group in 2001, citing a desire to pursue a fashion career, though she was later diagnosed with clinical depression.

Mutya Buena has praised “One Touch” as the band’s best work, and Siobh√°n Donaghy has remarked that the album was ahead of its time. The original members reformed under the name “Mutya Keisha Siobhan” in 2011 and resumed performing as the Sugababes in 2019 after securing the legal rights to the name. On 11 May 2021, Sugababes announced a 20th-anniversary edition of “One Touch,” released on 1 October 2021, following a delay due to the COVID-19 pandemic. A remix of “Run for Cover” by MNEK was also released. This reissue led the album to achieve a new peak at number 18 on the UK Albums Chart.
