New World Depression

Released in June 2024, New World Depression landed as a confident and focused statement from $uicideboy$, refining the sound and themes that have defined their run while sharpening the execution. Rather than chasing reinvention, the album doubled down on clarity, atmosphere and control.

Produced primarily by Budd Dwyer, with additional contributions from Aasis Beats, 685floyd and KXVI, the record carried a colder, more deliberate tone. The duo’s intensity felt distilled rather than explosive, with tightly wound tracks like “The Thin Grey Line” and “Lone Wolf Hysteria” delivering their ideas with precision, while longer moments such as “Burgundy” allowed the mood to stretch and breathe. There was a noticeable sense of calm running beneath the darkness, giving the album a weight that lingered.

Across the project, $uicideboy$ sounded assured and settled into their identity, pairing stark lyricism with stripped-back but immersive production. The balance between restraint and heaviness gave New World Depression a cohesion that made it feel intentional from front to back, an album that trusted its atmosphere rather than relying on constant shock.

The release also marked a commercial high point. The album debuted in the top five of the US Billboard 200, topped the Independent Albums and Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums charts, and charted strongly across Europe, Australia and New Zealand. The response reaffirmed the duo’s global reach and the strength of their connection with listeners.

Ultimately, New World Depression stood as a mature, controlled entry in the $uicideboy$ catalogue: focused, self-assured, and impactful, showing a duo fully comfortable in their lane and confident in letting the music speak for itself.
