“MM..FOOD,” released in November 2004, is the brainchild of the British-American rapper and producer MF DOOM. This concept album, presented in all caps as “MM..FOOD,” saw its release under the Rhymesayers label. It carved a unique niche in the world of hip-hop, peaking at number 17 on Billboard’s Independent Albums chart and securing the 9th position on the Heatseekers Albums chart.

True to MF DOOM’s enigmatic style, the title “MM..FOOD” is an anagram of his own name, “MF DOOM.” Delving deeper, this album is more than just beats and rhymes; it’s a concept woven around the theme of food.

As MF DOOM himself describes, “MM..FOOD” is a concept album that takes you on a journey through a metaphorical picnic. The album’s titles and lyrics are laden with references to various foods, dishing out both common metaphors from the streets and playful allusions from the culinary realm.

Most of the album’s production is helmed by MF DOOM himself, with a few exceptions. “Potholderz” is a notable track produced by Count Bass D, while “One Beer” is a Madlib production that was originally intended for the Madlib and MF Doom collaboration album, “Madvillainy.” The track “Kon Queso” was brought to life by PNS of Molemen.

Guest appearances on “MM..FOOD” include Count Bass D, Angelika (Stahhr), 4ize, and Mr. Fantastik, adding depth and variation to the album’s sonic palette.

Notably, the album underwent some revisions and remixes. “Kon Queso,” originally released as “Yee Haw” in 2003, was revisited with a more laidback delivery from MF DOOM. The track “Vomitspit” also received a facelift, emerging as a new version of “Vomit” with an altered beat and tweaked lyrics.

It’s worth mentioning that the initial album release contained a different version of “Kookies,” but this was altered due to an unlicensed sample from Sesame Street. Subsequent physical and digital versions featured a simpler rendition of the track.

The captivating album cover art was a collaborative effort, with art direction by Stones Throw’s Jeff Jank and the artwork itself painted by Jason Jagel. It’s worth noting that the original painting featured a blunt, which was later edited out.
