Miller Campbell arrives fully formed. Built on the momentum of singles like “All Night”, “Self Medicated”, “Runaway Arms”, “3 AM” and the breakout “Bad”, the record pulled those sharp-edged introductions into a coherent statement: confident, confrontational, and impossible to ignore.

Critics were quick to clock the lineage. Stephen Deusner captured its charge neatly, pointing to coiled guitar lines, taut rhythms and skinny-tie synths, all driven by a vocal presence that nodded to Pat Benatar, the Go-Go’s and, unmistakably, Chrissie Hynde. That influence never tipped into imitation, though. Campbell’s songwriting kept things grounded in confession and candour, from the sleepless self-examination of “3 AM” to the bruised openness of “Self Medicated”, which found an unexpected second life soundtracking Sony and Blumhouse’s thriller AfrAId.

Sonically, the album thrived on contrast. Heartland grit rubbed up against coastal shimmer; snarling guitars collided with dreamy synths. Recorded in Hollywood with producer Matt Drenik (Battleme, Louise Post, Acid Tongue), it channelled the immediacy of 70s rock radio through a modern, synth-dusted indie lens. It was nostalgic without feeling backward-looking, the kind of record designed to crackle on vinyl or blast out of a car stereo at full volume.

By the time the vinyl edition landed and European tour dates were announced for Germany and the Netherlands in autumn 2025, Campbell’s reach was already stretching well beyond expectations. For a Montana-born artist with country roots and a famous surname, this debut didn’t trade on heritage. It marked a clean break: bold, electric, and unmistakably her own.
