Lifehouse

Lifehouse is the third studio album by the American rock band Lifehouse, released on 22 March 2005, under Geffen Records. Preceded by the single “You and Me”, the album marked a significant departure in the band’s sound. It was the first to be executive produced by Jude Cole, who had managed the band since 2000. Departing from their earlier post-grunge style, Lifehouse embraced a more radio-friendly pop rock sound, a direction that would characterise their subsequent releases.

Recorded in Los Angeles, California, and Maryland, the album features contributions from producers John Alagia and Jude Cole. Key singles include “You and Me” and “Blind”, the latter produced by Cole. Noteworthy tracks like “We’ll Never Know” retain elements of the band’s previous sound, while overall, the album leans towards adult contemporary pop rock.

Debuting at number ten on the Billboard 200, Lifehouse sold 63,000 copies in its first week and achieved gold certification from the RIAA on 7 September 2005. By November 2009, it had sold 960,000 units in the US alone, with global sales exceeding three million. The album received positive reviews for its accessible melodies and mature songwriting, solidifying Lifehouse’s position in the pop rock genre.

The album’s personnel includes Jason Wade on vocals and guitars, Rick Woolstenhulme Jr. on percussion and drums, and Bryce Soderberg on bass and backing vocals. Production credits also feature John Alag√≠a, who contributed bass, piano, and additional vocals.

Lifehouse’s success on the charts included a peak position of number ten on the Billboard 200 and certifications in various regions. It remains a significant release in the band’s discography, showcasing their evolution towards mainstream pop rock.
