Heartland (Clear Vinyl)

Sam Ryder marked a new chapter with the announcement of his second studio album, Heartland, which was set for release on 17 October 2025. The 13-track record followed his 2022 debut There’s Nothing But Space, Man!, an album that entered the Official Albums Chart at number one and quickly reframed Ryder as a fully fledged pop songwriter rather than a one-moment phenomenon.

Much of Heartland took shape in Nashville, where Ryder was spending time when not in the UK. Working across sessions with producers Mikky Ekko, Steve Mac and Mike Elizondo, he leaned into a broader, more reflective palette. The album was positioned as a response to the intensity of the previous few years, shaped by movement, upheaval and a desire for genuine connection rather than scale for its own sake.

Ryder described the record as a collection of songs rooted in forgiveness, self-doubt and the slow work of rediscovering confidence and hope. Rather than projecting triumph, Heartland was framed as a shared emotional space, written for listeners navigating both the highs and the quieter, lonelier stretches in between.

The rollout supported that shift in tone. After releasing lead single “White Lies” in April, Ryder shared “The Feeling Never Went Away” alongside the album announcement, continuing to sketch out the world surrounding the record. He also spoke openly about returning to independence after releasing his debut on a major label, reflecting on Eurovision as a defining but finite chapter, and Heartland as the start of something newly grounded.

That period culminated with Ryder preparing for his biggest headline show to date at London’s Wembley Arena on 6 November, bringing the themes of reconnection and renewal into a live setting. Heartland ultimately stood as a moment of consolidation, an artist pausing to take stock, re-centre and move forward with intention rather than noise.
