Blackfield, the collaborative art-rock/alternative pop project featuring Israeli artist Aviv Geffen and English songwriter/musician Steven Wilson, breaks a three-year hiatus with their 2020 release, “For The Music.”

Representing their most ambitious work yet, “For The Music” seamlessly blends psychedelic sonics with a pristine pop sensibility, all while carrying a significant, sometimes dark undertone. In a continuity from the previous album, “Blackfield V,” Aviv Geffen assumes a central role as producer, lyricist, composer, and instrumentalist. Steven Wilson remains actively engaged, contributing guitar work on various tracks and taking the lead vocals on three songs. The album’s ten tracks traverse from psych-tinged melodies to exquisite balladry, presenting a concise and fully realised embodiment of contemporary pop.
