Coming Home

“Coming Home” is the debut studio album by American singer Leon Bridges, released on 23 June 2015 by Columbia Records. The album was crafted by Bridges along with Austin Michael Jenkins, Joshua Block, and Chris Vivion, and produced by Niles City Sound.

The album features two singles: “Coming Home,” released on 3 February 2015, and “Smooth Sailin’,” released on 2 June 2015. The tracklist includes “Better Man,” “Brown Skin Girl,” “Shine,” “Lisa Sawyer,” “Flowers,” “Pull Away,” “Twistin’ & Groovin’,” and “River.” The deluxe edition adds five bonus tracks: “There She Goes,” “Daisy Mae,” “Mississippi Kisses,” “Here in My Arms,” and “Outta Line.”

“Coming Home” debuted at number six on the US Billboard 200 and reached number five on the UK Official Chart Update. It was nominated for Best R&B Album at the 2016 Grammy Awards. The album was certified Platinum in the United States, Canada, and Gold in the United Kingdom and Australia.

The album’s musical style is rooted in R&B and soul, showcasing Bridges’ influences from the 1950s and 1960s. Notable tracks include the tender title track and the gospel-blues closing song, “River.” The album’s production and Bridges’ vocal performance received acclaim for evoking a classic soulful sound while offering a contemporary appeal.

The personnel involved in the album include Andrew Skates on piano and organ, Cliff Wright on bass, Josh Block on drums, and Austin Jenkins on guitar, among others. The recording and mixing were handled by Niles City Sound, with Joe LaPorta mastering the album.
