Around The World (LP & DVD)

In 1979 and 1980, The Police embarked on their first global tour, traversing six continents. The Police: Around The World Restored & Expanded captures this formative period in their career, showcasing their rise to international fame. The film combines live performance footage with intimate moments of Sting, Andy Summers, and Stewart Copeland exploring various countries, including Japan, Hong Kong, Australia, India, Egypt, Greece, France, South America, and the US. It highlights their experiences visiting local landmarks, sampling new cuisines, and expanding their global fanbase.

On 20 May 2022, Mercury Studios released The Police: Around The World Restored & Expanded in DVD+CD, Blu-ray+CD, and DVD+LP formats, the latter pressed on blue vinyl. This release marks the first time the film has been available on DVD and Blu-ray, featuring restored picture quality and remastered audio, along with complete performances of four additional songs not included in the original release.

The package also includes previously unreleased live audio on CD and LP, featuring tracks from their first two albums recorded in Japan, Hong Kong, and England. This material reflects The Police’s dynamic live energy during their ascent to global stardom.

At the time, the band was experiencing their initial chart successes in the UK with “Roxanne” and “Message In A Bottle.” Andy Summers captures the ambition of the era in the liner notes, noting their desire for global recognition and their innovative approach to documenting their tour.
