Antisocialites

Antisocialites is the second studio album by Canadian indie pop band Alvvays, released on 8 September 2017. The album was issued through Polyvinyl in the United States, Royal Mountain in Canada, Transgressive in Europe, and Inertia in Australia. It was recorded at Kingsize Soundlabs in Los Angeles, California; Tarbox Road Studios in Buffalo, New York; and Union Sound Studios in Toronto, Ontario. The recording process involved both Pro Tools and a TASCAM 488 8-track recorder.

The album features a blend of the band’s signature fuzzy guitars and catchy indie rock hooks, presenting a more focused and radio-friendly sound compared to their self-titled debut.

Singles from the album include “In Undertow” (6 June 2017), “Dreams Tonite” (25 July 2017), and “Plimsoll Punks” (18 August 2017).

Antisocialites was well-received and won the Juno Award for Alternative Album of the Year in 2018. It was also a shortlisted finalist for the 2018 Polaris Music Prize. The album was featured in various year-end lists, including Exclaim!’s Top 20 Pop & Rock Albums of 2017, and ranked highly in publications such as The Guardian and NME. It charted in several territories, peaking at 36 on the Canadian Albums Chart, 28 on the UK Albums Chart, and 82 on the US Billboard 200.
